“Wow – I don’t even have words. That was the most beautiful video I’ve ever seen in my life. A wedding day flys by and pictures are great to capture a moment but there is truly nothing compared to reliving that day through video. Thank you so so much. I’ve watched it 20-30 times and I’ve cried every single one of them. This is exactly why I wanted you to be our videographer. What you create is beautiful. Thank you again and again. Best investment I could’ve made for our wedding.”

Alex + Craigs Okanagan Wedding Video at Ponderosa Point
We had THE best weekend filming Alex + Craigs Okanagan wedding at Penderosa Point, near Penticton BC. We find ourselves out in and around Pentciton/Kelowna a few times of the year and the region is one of our favourite places in Canada. Amazing wine, breathtaking scenery and tons to do.
However, we’d never filmed at Ponderosa Point before, which is a shame, as it’s THE perfect place to get married. The venue consists of 26 private cottages, with a private beach, lake views and easy access to the surrounding wineries, golf courses and trails. Imagine waking up to the sound of the waves lapping the shore and birds playing amongst the Ponderosa pines. You can jump in the lake, go for a hike or chill on the beach, all before getting ready for your big day.
Alex and Craig had their ceremony and reception all on site, which meant they had plenty of time to enjoy cocktails and fun with their guests. The venue is in a great location for portrait shoots too. We took a super short drive to Keldon Hotel Park (for group photos) followed by a quick trip up the hill to Kraze Legs Vineyard (we also shot there for Ailen and Chad’s wedding earlier in the summer). We ended the portrait session at an incredible and intimate spot, perched on the cliffs overlooking Skaha Lake.
A Mini-Elopement Overlooking Skaha Lake
Alex and Craig invited us to stay with them and their guests for the duration of their Okanagan wedding, so essentially a destination scenario. It meant their guests got used to us being around and by the wedding day we were just part of the scenery. It also meant that we were able to toss around a few ideas with Alex and Craig, one of those being that we could include a “mini elopement” as part of their day.
They didn’t want to exchange vows in front of their guests and so they had written letters to each other, and it was through these that they would express their promises for the future. We still recorded those, and they were great moments, but I suggested we bring them along for the portrait session and see if we could include them.
As you can see in the film, this became a focal point for their day. A quick idea, embraced by the couple, turned into a highlight for them. Being away from the attention of all their guests really brought the moment into focus and become just about them, their love for each other and hopes for the future. So if you’re a couple, and a little nervous about saying personal words in front of all your guests, why not try this idea out?
Some Incredible Okanagan Wedding Vendors
Alex and Craigs wedding was such a fun experience for us. Not only were we fully embraced by the couple, we were assisted greatly by some truly great collaborators. We really wanted to create the best Okanagan Wedding Video and these guys helped us so much.
Royce Sihlis was a super accommodating a friendly shooting partner for the day. His images are breathtaking and he very kindly sent some our way (the video cover and header image are from his gallery). His lovely wife, Nicole and her team from Created Lovely Events took care of the planning and co-ordination. Didn’t they do an incredible job? The whole event came together perfectly and we felt super looked after.
We’ve worked on a few weddings with makeup artist Jenny McKinney and, along with hair stylist Katie Cornelle, had the girls looking stunning. Those beautiful flowers were provided by Classic Creations Floral Design.
We were fortunate enough to sample the catering by BRODO and can testify that it was mouth-watering. Sally Wallick provided live music for the ceremony and cocktails hour while DJ Brennan Mann kept guests out of their seats all night long. What a night!
