Couple embrace at their The Symes Wedding in Toronto

Mesmerizing Wedding at The Symes Toronto | Jessie + Alexander

Jessie and Alex’s Jewish and Greek wedding at The Symes in Toronto was a gorgeous sunny fall day towards the end of our season. We felt so lucky to be working with a couple who expressed so much joy from the experience. We were struck by the constant laughter between themselves, family and friends and the way they made their wedding feel so intimate and personal. These are the kind of people who bring others into their circle and make them feel great.

“Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. WOW! I’ve watched it 4 times on repeat already since opening the link and was teary eyed each time. It captures our day so well and we love it so much. Thanks so much, Mark! This is actually so exceptional.” – Jessie & Alex

The Symes; An Historic and Contemporary Wedding Venue in Toronto

The Symes, one of the hottest event spaces in Toronto, is located in the Junction. It’s a heritage building that has been transformed into a stunning event space perfect for weddings and luxurious events.  The elegant industrial architecture, soaring ceilings, exposed brick walls, and large windows that let in plenty of natural light give the building such a unique feel.

While there is plenty of character, The Symes is enough of a “blank canvas” that you can completely tailor the decor and create the event of your dreams. From the moment we stepped into the venue, we were transported to a world of contemporary romance and celebration. Jessie and Alex held their Ceremony in The Scarlett Room; a space flooded with natural light which they accented with with minimalist features (white florals, candles and a clear chuppah). Guests were able to roam, meet, great and bask in the sun on the adjacent south-facing terrace with spectacular 180 degree views of the city.

After cocktails, everyone made their way down to the Grand Symes for the reception. We have to give a huge shout out to Laura and her team from Muse Events as well as Jackie O Events. They created an atmosphere that was warm, intimate and luxurious. As guests entered the ceremony and reception spaces we could see their eyes open wide taking in the scenery with the glowing candles and beautiful florals.

We loved the experience of filming at The Symes. It’s a venue with plenty of character but enough space to let your imagination soar. Jessie and Alexander definitely made the most of it and we can’t wait to return one day (hopefully in the not too distant future!).

Jessie & Alexander Infused Their Personality Into Their Wedding at The Symes

As Jessie’s Dad says: “Look at that smile, the smile that truly lights up the room, puts everyone at ease and says life is beautiful”. Jessie and Alex have wonderful personalities. They surrounded themselves with friends and family throughout the day, many of whom had flown from all over the world to be with them.  We say this so often, but we love filming weddings where we can see how much a couple injects their own personality into their wedding day. For Jessie and Alex, it wasn’t so much about the decor and details, but about the experiences they were having with the people who were close to them.

From the very beginning, they were constantly smiling, joking and playing around. They made their Jewish and Greek cultures an important part of the ceremony and reception, making sure that their family were involved. They shared their emotional vows in front of their guests and gave it their all during the Hora.

We’ve also never seen the parents of a couple become so close. As Jessie and Alex’s relationship evolved, so did the friendships of their parents; highlighted by s special moment when all six of them embraced and danced with each other at the end of the night.

The Symes Toronto Wedding Vendors

We were very fortunate to work with a crack team of vendors for Jessie and Alex’s wedding at The Symes. Laura and her team from Muse Event Co. took charge of planning the event and recommending a very talented collective to bring their vision to life. Jackie O Events did an incredible job creating a contemporary and romantic atmosphere for their ceremony and reception (along with help from Rentals from Around the Table, Splendid Settings , Simply Beautiful Decor| , Events Rental Group and stationary by Paper & Post ).

Tara McMullen was as fun as ever to shoot along side (I’m sure her photos are beautiful) and the St. Royals kept everyone on the dance floor well into the night with their amazing live music. Food was a big part of Jessie and Alex’s wedding and we heard them make many positive comments about Elle Cuisine who provided catering. Ceremonies with choice conducted the most important part of the day effortlessly as always. Finally, Jessie was dolled up by Allysa Helm (hair) and her good friend Sarah Michelle Artistry who flew in from Utah to be a part of the day.
